Question: Find matching colors between InDesign and Photoshop!?
I have researched it and asked others about this issue but no success so far!. I have tried all file types at all bits/channels!. And I cannot find a way to get the same colors in both programs!. I have saved certain swatches in InDesign and then loaded them in Photoshop but still nothing!. I have tried taking a screenshot in InDesign, then pasting it in Photoshop and trying to pick up the same color and applying it!. But still!.!.!.!. no success!.
Does anyone know a sure way to get the colors to be exact when switching between programs!?
I would do all my coloring in InDesign but I run into a problem when I have an image that needs to have a transparent background!. InDesign won't change the color of any graphic that has a transparent background, it always needs to be 16bit with white back behind it!.
If you can help me with that problem instead that would be awesome!.
Thanks alot!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, if you're dialing CMYK or RGB color values from InDesign's color palette to Photoshop, it is guaranteed to output the same provided your color modes and color profiles match!. Photoshop and InDesign have the same color engine, they both view and output color using the same algorithms!. Technically, it should be safe to take a CMYK color over to RGB, but if you're not carrying over the color profile, it's never going to translate right!.

If you export your InDesign Art as a high resolution PDF (my preference is PDF X/1a, but that is a CYMK only format) you can import that into Photoshop and that way you not only carry over the color values, but you also include a color profile, so that Photoshop knows how to interpret the color!. That should keep your color consistent!.

Now also be certain that you're looking at proofs and not doing all this color judgement on screen only!. Nothing counts until ink hits paper!.

I'm not clear on what the second problem is!. Perhaps if you can clarify I can help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Simply create custom swatches with the same CMYK or RGB values!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
