Question: My 8 month old closes his eyes EVERYtime I take his picture , help!?
Every single time I take my baby's picture he blinks!. It drives me crazy! There are so many cute pictures but he always has his eyes closed! I do use a flash!. Is there any trick to getting him to keep his eyes open!? I have to use a flash or else the picture will be too dark!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's a suggestion, try turning off the red eye reduction feature of the flash!. Though the red eye reduction pre-flashes are meant to sufficiently dilate the pupils to avoid red eye, those pre-flashes can also cause blinking!. You can often remove red eye from pictures in an editing program - even the free ones, and some cameras can do it too!.

Sometimes this problem can be avoided with timing!.

A common trick used by photographers, is to press the shutter button as soon as they blink naturally!. That means when they open their eyes they are less likely to blink again immediately, even with the flash on!.

Of course how successful this is will depend on how quickly your camera takes the shot after pressing the shutter!. It may require some adjustment on your part to know how quickly your camera responds, and consequently timing your shots according to this!.

If you're using an SLR camera (ie!. the cameras with the interchangable lenses) then you'll find they take shots almost instantaneously!. Most other digital cameras will have some delay!. If you have an SLR with an adjustable flash head, you may have more success by bouncing the flash from the ceiling!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try turning on red eye reduction so the camera flashes twice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
