Just buying a good camera will not make you a photographer!.

You will need some schooling in photography, work for a pro as an assistant for a few years to hone your skills and learn the business and then:

Write a business and marketing plan as well as a projected P&L worksheet out to at least two years!. You will have to include your capitalization of the business (figure $50,000 for lights, cameras, lenses, computer/software package and office furniture) plus fixed and variable costs!. Don't forget including your retirement program, insurance (liability, health and auto) and other incidental costs usually associated with an employer that now have to be supplied by you!.
