Question: Chartres and Salisbury Cathedrals opposed to Medieval Cathedrals!?
I have to write an essay on Chartres and Salisbury Cathedrals opposed to Medieval Cathedrals!. I need to be specific in my response!. All that I have noticed is that, Medieval Cathedrals seem to be darker and covered in stain-glass windows, opposed to Chartres and Salisbury Cathedrals which seem to be taller and more brightly lit!. Please let me know if i'm on the right track or not!. ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think you should be clear what you have been asked to do: Chartres and Salisbury Cathedrals are important examples of the French and English Gothic style respectively (style: from 1200-1500)!. So you need first to look up and print out 1) general characteristics of Gothic churches and 2) general characteristic of earlier medieval (Romanesque) cathedrals i!.e!. built in 9th to 12th centuries!.
Next look up on the net the cathedrals individually - they are all there: Chartres, Salisbury and also Autun Cathedral(france) and Cantebury Cathedral as examples of medieval architecture!. With this material before you should be able to write a good comparative essay!.
