Question: Im a beginner looking to buy a dslr!?
I've explored this site thoroughly and i know its been cover at nausea but i don't want to take any chances with this investment!. I've no problem with spending 400-600 but i want to make sure that when i get the lenses for the camera i choose, they'll be transferable to my eventual upgrades (i hope to eventually get the canon EOS 5D Mark II)!. And suggestions as far as a camera!?, lenses!?!.!.!.!.the meaning of life!? Thanks guys (and gals)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have decided to choose Canon as your life long camera system, when you buy an entry level Canon DSLR, remember that the EF-S lenses made for them cannot be used on the 5D or any full frame Canon camera, 35 mm or DSLR!. This may end up costing you more money than you want to spend as you buy more and more lenses since typically EF lenses cost substantially more than EF-S lenses!.

If you can find a good XTi body ($550) and buy a EF 24-85mm f/3!.5-4!.5 USM for about $325 it can later be used with your new 5D, but you will not have a very wide angle view with that lens!. If you need a wide angle lens then the EF 17-40mm f/4L USM will give you that for $700!.

I am not trying to sell you on buying Nikon's, but !.!.!. all the lenses, DX (EF-S on Canon) and FX (EF on Canon) can be used on any of the DSLR's full frame or not!. The Nikon D700 is equivalent to the 5D, but without video!. The entry level Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm lens is under $450 on Amazon

So if the meaning of life is to buy a camera system with the most compatibility, you may want to do some more research before you spend a cent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Canon XSi!.
Beautiful camera, only $100 extra for an IS stock lens,
it's technically an entry level dslr, but its!.!. the best!. seriously!. For about 700-800 you can get better than the xti, which is nothing compared to the xsi!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
