Question: How much does a model for life drawing make!?

I am an art student in Chicago and both appreciate life drawing and could really use any extra cash that I could make from posing nude as a model!. Is anyone familiar with the positives and negatives of being a life drawing model!? Any information you could pass on would be helpful, especially if it's from from experience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hourly rates vary!. It depends on location and demand!. Some areas really don't pay well $10/hr!. Some pay $25-30/hr!.

My wife and I have posed for over 10 years now!.

Positives is it can be fun and educational!. As an artist myself, I have a better understanding of weight placement and positive and negative spaces!. My wife, not an artist, has taken some great nude photos me for listening to different instructors!.
2nd benefit you can listen to other instructors lectures!.
Long reclining pose, make sure you have a timer, you could nap!.
Of course, it is fun you get paid to be naked!.

Negatives, when in a long pose a foot, leg or hand can fall asleep!.
Some instructors can be long winded and boring, especially if you are in your pose!. also some instructors have big egos and act like they are allowing you to work for them!.
It is not a consistent pay check or schedule!. You will experience highs and lows
also, the soles of you feet will become black, because of the charcoal dust!.

Check with various art schools and in the artist community!. You may find some great opportunities!.

Good luck and have a great time!.
