All DSLR's made by most manufacturers have a manual mode on them!. this not only includes the adjustment of aperture and shutter speed, but the option to manually focus as well!. Both Nikon and Canon have these features!.

Depending upon your budget, you can also get other features that represent advanced digital technological features, like low noise at high ISO settings, live view and HD video!.

The Canon AE-1 is an Automatic, in program mode, or shutter priority, or Aperture priority, so the better Digital cameras have all the same capabilities plus complete manual control!. You can control all the settings!. I am an old Canon A1 and EF person so I have used the same type of camera for the same reasons!. Go to a good camera shop and look at the cameras and the dial will show you what the cameras are capable of!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

All DSLRs offer full manual exposure control, as well as control over many aspects of camera function and image parameters!. In addition, some point & shoot cameras (Canon A series, e!.g!.) have full manual exposure modes!. Manual control on a P&S is often more cumbersome than on a DSLR, though - you may have to get into the menus, whereas the DSLRs have buttons and dials for that and show relevant settings in the viewfinder!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
