Firstly, to define a statue: it is a sculpture in the round representing a person or persons, an animal or an event!. It is usually full-length, as opposed to a bust, and close to life-size, or larger!. (if they are small in size they are called figurines)
Different types include: equestrian statues (leader on horse etc)
Commemorative statues - associated with a historical event like the Statue of Liberty!.
Or a person - a military leader, a king etc!.
Statues of religious or biblical figures: e!.g!. Michelangelo's Pieta/ Statue of David/ Hindu Gods etc
Public art statues - ornamenting a public building!. Like the figures of Justice and Liberty in front of a Court House!.
Another group might be statues considered are those considered to be the Wonders of the Ancient World (no longer in existence) : the Colossus of Rhodes, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia
