Question: How much does a photographer cost!?

My best friend's dad is a photographer and he offered to take the pictures at my daughter's first birthday party!. He's not charging me so I wanted to give him a gift card or something to thank him!. I'm not sure how much would be approriate!. How much do photographers normally charge!? And how much should I give him!? THank youWww@QuestionHome@Com

Normally event photographers charge from $150 to $350 for location photography and supply a CD of image for you to choose the photos for printing!. The photos are an extra fee!.

I am sure a nice $30 to $50 gift card will be a nice surprise!. After all a gift is a gift !.!.!. a nice little "tip" is always appreciated, but to attempt to offset his normal fee would negate the gift!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A nice gift certificate is a free dinner for two (if he's married) at a nice restaurant!. It gives you an opportunity to show your appreciation and gives him and his companion an enjoyable experience that they might not have given themselves!. In my opinion, a gift certificate to a camera store or department store would not be as classy!. Being that he is a professional, it would not be large enough for him to purchase a significant piece of equipment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
