If you can afford it, buy a MAC!.

I have used both PC and MAC!. Never once has any of my MAC's crashed!.

PS!.

500 pictures is not a large number!. I have well over 10,000 images on my computer (all in TIF files)!. (Nothing smaller than 6MB each)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm currently using a pc!. My husband and I build our own computers so I can't tell you what brand it is, as there is no brand!.
If you're going to buy a PC, I would say buy a HP!.
Any new computer you buy today, will have a big enough harddrive for alot of photos!. It will also have no problem with memory!.
Remember it's also a good idea to have a 2nd harddrive to back up your photos and burn the photos to CD or DVD!.

I have never used a mac, but Mac users will tell you mac is better then PC!. I can't personally say if that is true or not!. But I do believe with Vista, PCs have gotten better!. I love the Photo Gallery!. My computer has never crashed, never been slow!.
Currently I am running Vista, Pentium 4 duel core, 3gig ram and 2 250gig harddrives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've been using Dell computers for the past several years!. I did have Gateway!. I wouldn't trust their monitors, unless they make them better now!. I had a bad one, and they replaced it with another even worse one!.

Anyway, just make sure your monitor can be calibrated to your printer, if you're printing your own!. You'll want your colors to be true!. Dell hasn't done me wrong yet that way!. Then just make sure you have enough memory to store pictures (and back them up somewhere else), and work on them with a good image editing program!.

I'm currently using a Dell laptop with no problems!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

store your images on discs, hard drives are not safe they get viruses and thing spilt on them like fine french wines and frapages

PC or MAC!.!.!.!.!.!.!.hmmm, they are both good, some like one some the other, the 92dpi of the MAC screens is a plus for sure, i use both and find they do the same thing

500 photos and it took up all the memory!?

A friend bought a new computer because the hard drive was full!. Please don't do that!.

Get an external hard drive!. You can easily plug it into the USB port!. They're cheap (500 Gig for $100 or so) and you can save all your data to it!.
