Absolutely!. You would do well to study the art of many different artists that you like, not just da Vinci's, so that you can start to develop your own style!. As you are drawing, take time to move away from the sketch and look at it, and look at it upside down, sideways (I'm serious)!. If it looks good from other angles, it will look good straight on, as well!. I also found it helpful to study and practice drawing in negative space - it helps your brain get past forcing you to draw what it THINKS you should see and to draw what actually is there!. Another thing you can do is to take a simple picture, turn it upside down and draw what you see!. These are exercises that many artists use from time to time to improve their sketching!. also be sure to find some books on how to use light in your drawings so that your shading and highlights are technically correct!.
