Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Sit down with your camera and manual for at least a day, going through page by page and trying everything out!. Then you should know where to find everything!. You set your ISO in your menu!. Then set your mode dial to M!. That will allow you to set your shutter speed and aperture manually!. In manual mode, the flash will not come on unless you choose to use it!. Your aperture will depend on your lens, so you may or may not be able to choose 3!.2!. 1/40 is a rather slow shutter speed, so you will probably need a tripod or other sturdy support!. Make sure the settings you choose will match the light situation you're shooting in!. If they don't, you could end up with an over or under exposed image and wonder why it didn't come out right!. It won't come in a day!.Www@QuestionHome@Com first off why would you want that specific setting if you have a lens with any longer of a focal length than about 24-35 MM you will have blurry pictures, second your lighting conditions change all the time, therefore your shutter speed and aperture settings change all the time!. wanting to set your camera to "these settings" means that you don't understand the principles of how a camera works!. and third 3!.2 is now a whole fStop, and probably not even a third stop!. you may see an fStop like that on a point and shoot but chances are you will not find it on your camera!. though you might but sure as everyone else has said, read your manual and that will explain howWww@QuestionHome@Com Reading the manual is the best way to figure this out!. I do not own a D40 but on the back of the camera there should be a button that says ISO!. Press this and set to 200!. To set the shutter and aperture!. Turn the knob on top to M or manual!. Turn the wheel to set the shutter speed!. There should be another button that will allow you to adjust the aperture!.
