How is this photo for a "hand held" shot at 300mm?

Question: How is this photo for a "hand held" shot at 300mm!?

I just got my 75-300mm zoom lens and had to try it out!. I hand held this one of the full moon!.

You must have leaned on a solid surface and propped your elbow with it!. (Just another trick if you don't have a tripod)!. Lens opening is at f4!?

Needs to be sharper!. Taking photos of the moon is fairly easy as you can apply the old sunny 16 rule to it (I know most people won't get this and I don't really feel like explaining it)!. The moon is illuminated by the sun and the camera recognizes it as such!. You did a good job as most people tend to over expose it thinking they need have more light!. In fact less light makes it more defined!.

Don't get me wrong, it is a good shot but certainly not pro quality!. As mentioned a tripod would make the world of difference in the quality of the photo!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's good, I would give it a B-!. A tripod will make you SO much happier!. You will be shocked at how much sharper the image is - that is, if your lens is of pretty decent quality!. Go for it, get a $20 tripod and see what you think!. Return the tripod if it doesn't totally WOW you; but I guarantee it will!. A shutter release cable will minimize camera shake too!. To be honest, it's soft!. Either out of focus or not held that steady!. It's also under exposured!. Think I saw somewhere a moon should be shot at f/100 @ 1/125 @ ISO 100, but don't quote me!. Get a tripod and bracket your exposure and you'll be much happier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

with a shutter speed that slow and a 300mm focal legnth i'd say you did a pretty good job of it!.

When is f10 an exposure!? The picture is soft and too dark, try bracketing next time and use a tripod, the moon isn't going anywhere!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
