Question: Question about auto-focus for Canon SLR!?
I use the self-timer and I don't know how to focus just on me if I'm out of the way!. I can use a high aperture but since I shoot indoors I need a lower aperture because the photo will turn out dark!. Any help would be great, thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

A little help could be : keeping timer maximum, focusing on a dummy item just in perfect place of you for the time being and make sure you use tripod, when focus is done, replace the dummy item, pose yourself and wait for the click!.

I hope this will work and has no reason to fail!.

Keep in mind that Canon cameras will not allow the self timer to function until the camera has achieved focus!. So you HAVE to focus on SOMETHING before the timer will begin it's countdown!. As stated before, either focus on something where you WILL BE, or manually focus the camera, but again, you will have to focus on an object in the same place where you will be!.

Nikon cameras do have an advantage here, as they will allow the self timer to start, then after the timer expires, they will automatically focus, then fire the shutter!.

Manually focus the lens!. Most lenses will have a focus distance chart on the lens, some do not!. Once you achieve the focus you want, set the lens to manual focus or MF!. Then you wont have to mess with it anymore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
