Question: Do art lessons help much or am I too late!.!.!?
Yes Ever since i was little I loved to doodle and draw!. i was good with little cartoons and funny looking people!. But i always had a harder time drawling free hand and faces!. So around my 11th grade year I took a art class in high school!. and all that!. But it was horrible!.

I was really into this style of art http://ionen!.deviantart!.com/gallery/ and i wanted to be a character designer!. But the teacher told me how it wasnt art and really brought us down!. he made us draw Pine cones and always told us to be creative and i would get an F for being to creative!. So i kinda gave it up!.

Up recently I relized that i couldnt ever give up drawling and i want to have a career in it!. but i hear people say how im too old now!. ( 20 Years old ) and what not but im a really deicated guy!. I spend Hours and hours on stuff !. alot of times 40 hours a week on hobbies and what not!. But i dont know what path to take!. Should i gte a teacher!. or mabey pick up some books and study on my own and just draw like everything i can Until i understand how the human form is and stuff!?

Or should i just not bother and give up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why would you stop!?
Art is a matter of the heart!. To make art, it is a matter of the brain, the eye, and the hand!.

You obviously have a desire because you took an F from a teacher who maybe didn't understand you as much as you didn't understand him/her!.

You could take an art class in a community college or local college, but - before you enroll and spend money you can't retrieve, be willing to submit to some lessons that will probably make no sense to you!. Most of these lessons have to do with critical observation (the EYE)!. Why a pine cone!? because it wasn't your shoe!.

A drawback to working on your own is that you are your own audience!. There's no critique so you don't necessarily fix the minor points in your work!. (minor if you're lucky)!. If you can find a reasonably inexpensive art tutor, that might be a way to go, but again, you are letting yourself in for critique - not to remold you but to help you get to a more clear and economical way of producing art!.

I could go on because your art future is important but I will leave you with the process in a nutshell!. Your brain has the inner vision of what the art should look like!. You hand makes a mark and your eye sees the mark and your brain interprets the mark as "right" to the vision or "wrong" to the vision, but because the mark is there, the vision has changed!. It is this back and forth that is the work of art!. You won't ever match the vision because the more you see the more you see to do!. In this regard the art is never finished, you're just done with it!.
At least that's the way it is with me and most of the people I've taught!.

Art is one of the greatest adventures but you already know that!. And- why is 20 old when it's art we're talking about!? Each new piece is new!.
