Any of the portraits of Puritans could be considered ironic!. Many of them dressed up in rich clothes (particularly the women) when they were being painted, despite the fact that they lived in a society that shunned an ostentatious way of living!.
also, the "truth" ads (anti-smoking) have a lot of irony in them, if you consider those "works of art!."
However, the most ironic work of art I can think of is Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain," part of the Dadaist movement, where he submitted a urinal to a juried art show, hardly an expected work of art in such a prestigious environment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Van Gogh, the painting of his room when he was committed, its use of a lot of color when in reality it was very bland!.

I don't know if that is what you are looking for, but I always seemed to find it ironic in a sense!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Van Gogh and Mona Lisa!. The History Books say she didn't smile so he would keep calling her back to pose for him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
