Question: Alphonse Mucha- impressionist or art nouveau!?!?!?
He is described as making his living as an artist during the impressionist period, HOWEVER later he seems to be given the attatchment of Art Neouveau!.
Did he dabble in both, or was he Art Nouveau during the Impressionist Era!?!?!?!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
He wasn't an Impressionist at all--he was strictly Art Nouveau!.

The time period when Art Nouveau was all the rage overlapped with that of the Impressionist movement in painting, but they were totally separate creative movements!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is what I found: "Overnight, Mucha's name became a household word and, though his name is often used synonymously with the new movement in art, he disavowed the connection!. Like Sinatra, he merely did it "my way!." His way was based on a strong composition, sensuous curves derived from nature, refined decorative elements and natural colors!. The Art Nouveau precepts were used, too, but never at the expense of his vision"

Alphonse Mucha is definitely Art Nouveau!. That is what he is famous for!. He loved ornateness, along with flowers, women, flowing movement and such!. Those things are all important parts of Art Nouveau!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
