I always used tempra (poster) paints for their vivid colors and ease of mixing and clean up!. (since they are water based) Once dry, I could then seal the sculptures in varnish or other, water resistant coating!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

any paint with adhere when dry,
~if for a pinata may try water base tempera finger paints or acrylics,
~if for decoration try acrylic craft paints,
~if for outdoors and decoration, could use oil, but not needed, could use latex house paint,
