The Canon 5D has been with us since August of 2005 !.!.!. three full years !.!.!. and is still being sold!. The new 5D Mark II is about to be released, but as you can see, the 18-24 month cycle did apply to the 5D Another camera that is not following the "standard" is the Nikon D40, one of the most successful entry level cameras made!. It has been on the market for just over 24 months, its replacement has been available for 8 months and yet the D40 is still being made and still breaking records in sales!.
