I think you are asking what it would cost you to have an artist do a painting from a photo you have!. Am I right!?

There are way too many factors involved in answering that question that I have to say a great big "it depends!" It depends on size, whether the photo is a good reference, and if it is an object, a scene, or a person!. It will depend most on your choice of artist, as some artists will paint just anything for a buck, and others will only take a commission if they feel they can create something very much art out of the photo!.

I personally have stopped taking the "I have a photo!. !. !. how much to have you paint a picture of it!?' kind of requests!. All too often the photo is terrible for use as a reference!. An artist usually needs more reference material than one image!. And why copy a photo!? I will take that image and create something new !. !. !. but I won't copy that photo as it is for someone!. There are artist just starting out that are quite good and will give you a reasonable price!. Make sure you pick an artist who will give what you want and sure, there are artist who will paint anything for a buck but if they are good what difference would that make!.
