Quality wise, it is pretty much a toss up!. Each brand will usually have a slight advantage over the other at certain times!.!.!.!. until the other comes out with a new model to upstage them!. Just buy a decent body and spend your money on lenses!. steveWww@QuestionHome@Com Either brand is sufficient when you compare specs of the level of camera that best suits your needs!. Unless you are partial to a particular brand due to use of either older models or film cameras where there exists a substantial investment in lenses, it really doesn't matter to be honest!. If you are new to digital photography, don't waste time racking your brain about which one is better!. The debate is moot as far as new photographers are concerned!. I like both, and have owned both, and they both do the same thing in the end!. I shoot with a nikon D80, a good friend of mine shoots with a canon rebel XTi!. The rebel suits her needs because it's smaller and fits her hand better than my larger D80!. I like the D80 because it's more intuitive and fits my hand better!. They both have the same resolution and similar features!. I think they're both pretty cool!. In the hands of a professional, or someone otherwise knowledgeable enough to know the difference, each are suited to different needs!. But, I don't get the impression that you fall into that category!. So, go to a camera store and use the various demos available to you and choose the one that fits your needs and feels comfortable in your hands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Both make excellent cameras and lenses, and both have their partisans!. also, both offer a wide range of models, each of which has its specific strengths and weaknesses!. It really comes down to personal choice!.
