I took both of these classes at the college level - drawing was a great class and you will learn a lot of technique there!. Sculpture depending on what level it is usually entails a bit of sketching and drawing and is more three dimensional!. If you have to make a choice and have the opportunity to take sculpture again in the future then I would take the drawing class first!. Both classes are great so if you are artistic then either one will be fun for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Normally I would say drawing because in many ways drawing is the foundation for everything!.

But, if you think you're unlikely to get the chance to take a sculpture class again, I think you should take it now!.

I studied drawing and painting for four years for eight hours a day!. It was amazing and changed my life!. But I now wish I had also taken at least one sculpture class!. I'm a painter, but I sometimes want to make objects or sculptures!. When I do, I realize that I have really no idea how to think about something that can been from any angle because I am so used to the flat surface of a painting which can be viewed from only one direction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I want to reinforce the first two answers - drawing is the basis for almost every artistic activity and is always handy and cheap - but sculpture is a different way of looking at things and being able to "sketch" in modeling clay and wire (form and line) can be incredibly handy!. I have tried drawing ideas that simply didn't make sense within my drawing abilities!. Using small wire and needle nose pliers allowed me to create a miniature of what I had in mind and then draw it with enhanced detail and strength!. Clay modeling allows forming a structure that reveals the shadows that don't jump to mind when trying to draw an imagined shape, but the shadows define the 3D shape!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

take both!. One this year and one next!.

or just pick drawing!. it is fun and cheep!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
