Question: Will this cause damage to my painting!?
I applied varnish on a painting that was dry (or so I thought)!. Apparently there was a little area that was wet, so when I applied the varnish, I could see that the paint was still a little wet!. It's not super noticeable or anything, but I'm a little worried that my painting will damage over time!. Can anyone provide some answers!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

To varnish an oil painting it needs a drying time of at least 12 months, If you varnish a painting before this time, chances are that the varnish layer becomes part of your painting layer!.

A varnish should only be applied to a completely dry painting!. If over the years the painting becomes yellow or dirty, the varnish only can then be safely removed without affecting the paint underneath!.

For a nice lustre on a painting which hasn't dried for the required time try using a spray-on retouching medium!.
