Question: I'm going to Jr!. High Photography class this year help!!?
I signed up for photography class because I really like photography but I forgot to ask the details about it from the school!.
Later, I found out that I have to have descent camera and lens but not sure!!!
I told my parents, they said they will change this class If I can’t get camera!. Well, we have this camera <Samsung Digimax S500 Zoom 5!.8-17!.4mm Samsung SHD lens> and I'm thinking about getting new SD card for it and use it for school!. Is this camera going to work!?!?!?
also, Help me find good camera! I don't have to buy right now, I just wanna get prepared for the class and know what to buy generally!.
Oh ya, I saved 220$ can I buy descent one with it or at least good used one!?
I want it to last long!.

Before you buy anything contact your school!. Many photography classes will have you learn on a 35mm SLR!. If this is the case you are lucky for two reasons!.
1!. It will teach how to use a camera manually!. When the class is over you will understand what goes into making a proper exposure!. You will also learn darkroom techniques!.
2!. Used 35mm SLR's are cheap now!. You can get a really good one on Craigslist or a yard sale for $100 or so!.
If this is a digital camera class you will probably need an SLR!. This is the kind of camera that you can change lenses on!. These will be much more expensive!. Cost for these will be $500-$1,000 for an entry level model!. Some models to look at would be the following!.
Canon Rebel Xti, XSi or XS
Nikon D40 or D60
Of these the D40 is the cheapest at about $470 with lens!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
