Answer yourself this!.!.!.!. What was it you didn't like about your last camera!.!.!? What didn't it do!.!.!? What do you WANT to do!.!.!?

Cameras are like girl friends and cars!.!.!. Changed often!.!. Why!.!.!? Because your still looking for what trips YOUR trigger!.!.! And the 'old' one just don't cut it anymore!.!. Right!.!.!?!

As well as you can, make a list of what you want in a camera!. Be realistic and with in todays abilities!. Be as precise as you can too!.!.

In my younger years I bounced around a lot till I understood this concept of visualizing what I wanted!. I made a list!. This was WAY back in the film days so bare with me!.!.!.

I wanted a box that could carry film, allow shutter settings from as fast as it could to locking the shutter open for hours!. I wanted a internal light meter but removable prism to look into the camera like a small view camera!. I choose, back then !.!. a Nikon F camera!.!.!.!.

Today, I still have that very same Nikon F camera, however I have gone digital 100%!. I now use Fuji cameras, from a S-2 to a S-5!. While they don't have some of the features I would like, few do, however they DO have superb image quality!.

So, ask yourself this - what do I want!.!.!? What do I need!.!.!? In a camera body!.

Hint - There IS no best!.!.!.! Get over it and get a life!.!.!. There are only compromises and we have to live with them!. Many go by the cost, never thinking what it is they wanna do in photography with the camera and later say, Oh, cwap!.!. This camera cant do it!.!.!. There is NO best camera for a amateur!.!. The best camera is the one you have done your homework on and research on, and then decided it was or is the best now, for you!.!.!.

I would say get a Fuji S-5 and as many Nikkor lenses as you could!. After about $20,000 you may think this is good, or very bad!.!.!.But you asked what to get!.!.!.!. (the reason I say the Fuji S-5 is I have one, a S-2 and a S-3 IRUV and boo coo lenses, all Nikon)!.
And they be great!. There is nothing I can't do that I wanna do with these cameras and lenses!.

Good luck

I just bought a new digital Canon EOS Rebel camera, model XSi!. It's a great amateur/advanced camera!. Comes with the 18-55 mm lens!. It is 12!.2 megapixels and takes excellent, high quality photos!. I paid $799!. for it at two months ago and can be purchased at Wal-Mart for about that same price!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on how serious you are and how much you're willing to spend!.

I've used and grown up with Nikons, so just realize that!. Canon makes great cameras too, I just haven't used them that much!.

My favorite DSLR kit for under $600 is the Nikon D40 w/ 18-55mm lens!.

The next step up would be the D80, then the D200, D300, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
