My God there is sooooooo many ways you can make money from photography!
To name a few:

Self employed:
This could be anything from opening your own studio/setting up your own business/becoming freelance photographer which can in turn send you down loads of different routes:
Wedding photography/Event photography/family portrait studio/help models create portfolios/fashion photography and many more

Contract:
Another thing you could do is join an agency and become employed by other companies to:
help advertise a product/do a fashion shoot with models/collect documentry evidence of plants!. animals, wildlife etc etc

And laso dont forget the criminal photography area!. You could become a forensic photographer and help out with criminal investigations!.

Or you could become a photography teacher

There is such a massive area of choice with photography!. You need to specialise in a ceratin area (editorial/nature/fashion/advertising/fo!.!.!. and from there you can make better choices about the best route to take towards making the big money!.

It is not unheard of for event photographres to charge £600 for 3 photos!!!
similarly Wedding photographres can charge silly prices like £1000 for 24 photos!.

Its all about credibility in the photography scene!. The higher your profile the more money your going to make!. If you have a really good reputation you will get more business, if you have a lot of high profile contact say for example in the fashion industry you stand a better chance of being asked to do a big snazzy photoshoot!.

You need to advertise yourself so that people can find out who you are and what it is you do and what your style is!. Then, those people who are interested and like you style will be able to give you a call and offer you a job!. beoming employed by an agency is in some ways an easier route to the big contacts but gettin into that agency takes alot of hard work and convincing!.

But before you can do any of this you need to find you own style!. You need to specialise in an area and develop your own creative identity!. Try doing an A-Level in photography or a BTEC which will then let you explore all the different techniques and equipment which will in turn help you to create your own creative identity!. Why not try University!?

Do your research, by some photography books get to know some of the many photographers of the past (try looking at Ansel Adams, Christopher Waite, Zena Holloway, Mario Testino, Ryuijie, Karl Blossfeldt) and see what it is they have done so you can get inspiration and assess what you like and dont like!. But just remember!. There are a hell of a lot of critics out there,!. Dont be put down by their comments remember everyone is entitled to their opinion but that is exactly what is it OPINION not fact - opinion! just because they feel that way doesn't mean everyone else will!.

There are LLLLOOOOAAAAADDDDDSSS of photographer in this world trying to get a cut of the big money and big clients and I'm not going to lie it is a cut throat industry so you need to be prepared!. Alot of photographres wont make it but you just need to remember that you CAN make sh*t loads of money in photography you just have to be strong, know what it is you want, know your own style, have some determination, guts and remember to AIM HIGH!

Before considering making money, you must create a portfolio of works!. You will spend the rest of your life building this volume of your best work, so start now!. Talk to others and tag along if you can as an assistant!. Networking and Knowledge of your art I have found may be more important from a marketing perspective than the actual content!. At first try some TFP, trade for print!. You will proboblay do a lot of "free" work just to get practice!.!.!.ask yourself what are you interested in, landscape, commercial, model etc!. And work in that direction, as a youngster you may change your primary interests often, but at least maintain focus that you want to become a professional photographer and make steps in that direction!.

It's very hard to do because every teenager with a camera thinks they are a professional photographer when they don't know the first THING about being a professional photographer!.

If you want to be a professional photographer you need to go to one of the schools that offer a degree in it where you will learn lighting and posing and composition and the fact that there is a HUGE difference between taking snap shots and doing professional photography that people will actually PAY for you to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey!!!!

Technically you dont need any qualifications if you are going to be woring for yourself!.!.!.however, most photographers establish themselve within a company first in which case you will need qualifications!.

Are you from the uk!?
You can get ur GCSE's at school, and then do photography for A Level alongside 2 other subjects (i know because i did this, i did Media studies, Psycology and photography) After you get your A levels if its something you really want to do, you could go to university to get even further education like a degree or something!

Pay COMPLETLEY depends on how good you are, if your just starting out, it will prbs be average-poor wage, but the better you get the more you earn, and if u own your own buisness or for a magazine or summat!.!.!.!.youll be rolling in it!!!

I didnt wanna be a photographer but i was interessted in photography and it was a really fun interessting hands on class!!

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

I made a myspace!.

I did alot of my friends photographs posted them up and the would post their pictures on their myspace under my photographies name and before I knew it, I was getting email on "how much for family portraits!?" and "Can you do my sons sports team!?" and "Can you do my wedding!?" and such!.

You'll have to start out real cheap and just do alot of free ones to build your portfolio, but once you get the ball rolling, and you have a GREAT eye and skill, you'll be surprised how much people will recommend you and your clients will begin to "pass you on" so to say!.

Best of Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
