My 4-year-old daughter got one for Christmas last year and she absolutely loves it! It's insanely durable!. She's dropped it countless times and her 2-year-old sister has gotten her hands on it and colored it, thrown it, etc!. and it still works great!. It's obviously not the greatest quality picture, but it's good enough that your son will like it!. I highly recommend them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not real sure of the cameras you are referring to, but I assume you mean the little cameras hanging on racks at places such as Wal Mart!. I have had one of the TINY little cameraa that cost about $20 I think!. It was absoulutely horrible, I would not recommend it even for a child!. Probably when you get into the slighty larger cameras that use an actual memory card, the results will be better, at least good enough for a child!.

In general, I applaud any effort to get a child to try to think and learn something creative such as photography rather than just playing video games or watching cartoons all day!.

So I say stay away from the super small, very cheap "cameras"!. They are worthless!. Get one that actually has a megapixel rating and uses a removable memory card!. The photos will be fantastic to a child and can lead to becoming interested in "real" photography down the road!.

I agree with Steve!. Those kids cameras are terrible!. Every shot is blurry and grainy!. I bought one for my sons 5th birthday because he always wants to use mine!. He used it one time and is not happy with the pictures!. He wants his pictures to come out like mine!. I will probably get him a cheaper point and shoot camera soon!. If your son is going to care what the photos look like I wouldn't recommend it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
