Question: Canon or Nikon!.!.!.help!.
Hey I'm starting art school in the fall and I'm taking photography and I'm seriously considering selling my old camera (which my parents got for really really cheap!. It's Minolta Maxxum 50!. Like, $115 at the most!. Yay for parents right!?)!. I'm considering selling it, using the money, and coughing up about 200 extra dollars for a Canon or a Nikon!. I just want to know what the difference between the two of them are!. Thanks!.

also, if anyone's in art school for photography or knows anyone, do you have to buy your own film!? Because that's expensive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a Canon and a guy friend of mine has Nikon!. We swapped cameras for a short while, just to see!. He found the buttons on the canon to small and I found the buttons of the Nikon too far apart!. I talked to some professional photographers about this including me asking "Show me your hand for a minute!" The ones that like Nikon cameras have bigger hands than the one's that like canon!
A bit odd but I've yet to find someone with small hands that like nikon or visa versa!.

Go into a camera shop and they will normally let you get a feel for the camera

I went to art college, there they sold black and white film at a cheaper price ?2 or ?3 and I could develop it in college I just needed to get photographic paper 100 sheets for ?20!. Hopefully your school should have something, if it has a supply shop then I would say that you can get things cheaply there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have 2 Fuji and 1 Nikon D200!. The good thing is that Fuji uses Nikkor lenses!. So I can go from Fuji to Nikon without having to buy separate lenses for both cameras!. Both Canon and Nikon are good!.

Yes you will have to buy your own film if film is what they want you to shoot!. With digital now a day, they might want you to get a digital camera as well!. You might want to check with the school!. But that's not the only thing that you should be concern about!. Photography is a very expensive subject to get into!. You'll also have to pay for your own printing paper and you go thru this a lot!. Your supplies are something you need to get!. Like props for your shoot!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personal choice!.!.!. CANON! (It is a personal thing!.!.!. I'm sure NIKON rocks for those more familiar with their technology, too!.!.!.)

Check into the course further!. The world has gone digital!. There is so much more one can do with digital!. With digital, there is no film to purchase/develop!. With digital, you can just delete the bad images and process the good ones!. If they insist on film, use the one you have, because the next course will open up the world of digital to you and you will rarely go back!. ;o)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do you have good lenses with your Minolta!? If so, check out SONY, which bought Minolta's engineering!. Bring them down to the photo shop and try them on!.

If that doesn't work, my preference is Canon!. When I first took up photography many years ago, their quality was similar to Nikon, but they were less expensive!. Today, up until a year ago, Canon's CMOS sensors were superior to Nikon's CCD sensors!. The new Nikons now have CMOS Sensors and have caught up!. They're pretty much equivalent now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well both are geniouses !.Well my recomendation would be Nikon and it spread wide across the globe with most features, distributors etc!.and also cost wise its cheaper!.And more over it is a headche for canon and a serious competitor till now for them :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both are the best brands and you won't do wrong no matter what you choose!. Both have good quality and variety of available lenses and other accessories!.
