take a background like you want, save it to your computer!.

open it up, and then click insert picture!.
put the picture you want in, and cut around you in the picture you want!.

Its a matter of masking off what you want and then toying with the background!.!.!.in this case completely erradicating the background to put in lines, colors, etc!. I've not played with Linux much!. But as I understand it, Linux is a very diverse operating system!. You need to tell us what photo editing software you are using for better assistance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You would use a program like Photoshop to do cool things with pictures!. You would have to use the magnetic selection tool to outline the picture, select 'cut' and then paste it to a background of your choice!.
