A less expensive brand of acrylic paints is probably what you want!. Thinned, they can act like watercolor, but full strength they will be the vivid colors you likely want!. Cheap watercolors in pans (Crayola, Prang, etc!.) will not go as far, produce weak colors and will use up quickly, costing you more in the long run!. For less than $10-15 you could have a decent set of acrylic paints and a couple brushes!. You should buy the largest brushes you can use for your project, and use the tips or the edges for detail!. Smaller brushes just wear out and take longer to cover your area with paint!.

I recommend a good roll of brown kraft paper (the kind sold for wrapping things for shipping, etc!.) instead of cardboard!. You can cut it to any size you wish and it will be easier to store and can actually be framed!. It is also good for using charcoal and pastels too!. !. !. !. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Artist's acrylic paint can be used on many surfaces, including clay pots and t-shirts!. Small starter kits of the four of five basic colors can be inexpensive!.

For inexpensive paints for paper and cardboard projects, I would suggest you check into the children's area of an arts and crafts store!. Crayola and other brands make a wide range of water-based paints that are quite reasonable in price!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have always found acrylic paints very nice to use!. they are good for painting on a variety of surfaces!.
'Regular' paints are poster paints!. they aren't the best really, they dry and i find they crack very easily!.
for types of paints have a read through this :http://painting!.about!.com/od/allotherpai!.!.!.

over all as long as you get the result YOU want and are happy with your work you shouldn't worry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
