Question: Gallery event question for artists!!?
I have my first gallery event coming up not too long from now! So excited and there will be many other artists' work on display as well!. My question is, was does the artist do while the event is going on!? Do they just sort of stand by their paintings!? Walk around and mingle!? And what do you wear!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Think of it as a coming out party!. Be on you best behavior!. Look and smell good!. First impressions are lasting impressions!. Be pleasant and smile a lot!. Don’t talk down about anything!. Don’t discuss politics, sex or religion!. Keep focused on the art in the gallery!. Mingle and have fun!.

When you become famous you can do as you wish!. Then you can look and smell bad!. Don’t care what others see in you or your art: What do they know!? Tell anyone within earshot all they wanted to know about politics, sex and religion!. Go off into some hidden place and keep saying you’re bored and wished you were home watching TV!.

Congratulations and good luck!

Dress up! First impressions are everything and you don't want people to think your some grungy kid that can't afford something decent to wear!. Mingle, talk with the other artists!. If you see someone looking at your work, go introduce yourself! also, keep some small promotional materials with you, like postcards with your work printed on them or something similar!.

For my first gallery opening, I wore nice black pants, a dressy blouse and nice shoes!. Go for it and good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd suggest thinking about 'what image you want to project' - high-end and sophisticated, grunge,'noir,' or other!.!. whatever you image, dress the part!

Schmooze, introduce yourself as one of the artists, it's your moment to shine!. If you stand next to your paintings all night that might be a little weird! Wander around, thank people for showing up, talk with other artists!.!.!.! Are you allowed to have a brochure of your own on a table somewhere!.!? If you can, definitely do so!. Use this as an opportunity to reach out to the community that is *interested* in not only your work- but you, as well!. That's why they are there!. Don't be shy to say hello!.!.! Don't talk all about yourself!.!.! Think about why they are there!.!.!. ask any questions of your audience you might want to ask!.!.!. it's the time to hang out and relax!.!.!.!

Don't hang in the corner looking scared, or run away when people smile!. Don't even run away when they look at you from head to toe and size you up!. Just relax, it's a visual event!. You're part of the visual and!.!. the vision!. So, step into the spotlight and enjoy!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dress well, but with some flair!. Add some creative accesories, perhaps, but not overdone!. Do walk around and mingle; introduce yourself!. Great way to start a conversation is if you see someone admiring one of your paintings, you could tell them a bit about the inspiration or process!.
People seem to be more facinated with the inspiration, than the nuts and bolts of how you do it!.
Good luck, and have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
