There are many different jobs and they depend on your interest!. Additional education concentration will help your chances in some areas!. Some focuses are:

Marketing and Promotions - Work for an Ad Agency, or as an in-house office in one company (like Nationwide Insurance)

Packaging - Work for a Product Design firm, or for a manufacturer (like Proctor and Gamble)

Publishing - Design and produce books, magazines, newsletters, online materials, e-books, newspapers

Digital Design - Create websites, work for gaming manufacturers to design interfaces and imagery, create interactive programs, design graphics for TV or movies

Illustration opens you up to additional categories - technical art, commercial and fine art, for use in all the above job categories and others!.

Since graphic design is a service that is needed in one way or another in every industry, you can also target a job within a specific area that you might be passionate about - the music industry, education, gaming, non-profit activities, whatever!.

I had a great education in design and have had a sucessful career being self-employed for the last 20 years, so it has been a great field for me!. But be aware that starting jobs involve a lot of straight computer production and grunt work, and won't pay what other careers do!. It's a competetive field - so draw draw draw (even if illustration isn't your interest this helps everything), and find what you can do better than others (do you work well with others and manage projects well, or are you really creative combining photomanipulation into your art!? - whatever it is) and develop that strength to find your niche!. also - try to always remember that the computer is a tool to produce your ideas, not the source of them - so avoid sitting down at the computer when it's time to create, instead do problem solving and brain storming with pencil and paper - and no eraser, then use the computer to "produce" your ideas!.

Good luck in whatever job direction you choose!Www@QuestionHome@Com
