study color theory, examine light!. I've been taught to look at shadows and such and come up with what color it really actually is!. And also compare the difference between light in shadow versus black in the light!. The white will always be a darker color than the black which is in the light!. also a great artist never borrows ideas they steal ideas!. So if you see something in a painting you like or a technique take it and use it the best you can!.

after you have the basic color and shape of your painting let it dry and look at it often,then add the details andfine shadows with watery black and white where the light shines!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
