Hmm!.!.!.

According to this website:
http://www!.photosource!.com/psn_full!.php!?!.!.!.

"The Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998 retroactively extended the duration of copyright to life of the author plus seventy years!. The European Union provides protection for a term also of the author's life plus seventy years!. "

So, depending on how old the photos are, they may still have a copyright on them, meaning you cant add one of your own (as far as I know!.) There's more at that link; it's too much to paste here!. I hope it helps!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The sensible thing to do would be to publish them giving credit to the source!. However, if you don't know where they came from you can label them 'family eirloom' or something like that!.
I guess you are going to make a family bibliographic kind of bookWww@QuestionHome@Com

Copyright always belongs to the photographer, unless she / he sells off that right!.!.!.You can't protect these photos under your name as you had nothing to do with them!.
Since you are a minor, I'd talk this over with your mother first!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
