Question: Does anyone have any experience with expired film!?
I have some single-use cameras with "best if developed by December 2007" on them!. I wondered what kind of quality, or lack thereof, I can expect, keeping in mind they are single use cameras taking snapshots at best!. Any experiences to share!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Much!.!.!.!.!. I have film I use that is years old!.!.!. The secret is in keeping close, dated and out dated film COLD!.!.! In fact, if kept cold, AND dry!.!. film will last for years and years, and more years!.!.!

If the cameras you have, have been kept as as cool as you could you shouldn't have any probs with them!. The date on the film or camera is a - best if used by - date!. A few months, 6!.!. 8!.!. 10!.!. mean almost nothing unless stored in a lot of heat!. The film does not automatically go bad on this date!.

Maybe you have noticed !.!. maybe not!.!. but in larger camera stores the so called "pro" films were kept in a cooler and the rest just behind the counter!. When made, film is "green" like a banana or tomato you buy and needs to 'age' a little before it has reached it's peak or prime conditions for which it was made!. So called "pro" film is aged then cooled to stop this process so the colors are more constant with the next roll, even next week or next month!. In many cases it's the same film as you would buy off the shelf, just packaged and handled different!. So called amateur film is aged in the store because generally, it sets a while before being bought!.

Unless you know your one use cameras were stored - hot!.!.!. I wouldn't worry about them but toss them in a freezer, now - IN zip lock baggies (let them thaw good before use and the baggie keeps condensation away from the camera)!. Thaw and use and have fun!.!.!.!.

This little over the date shouldn't be a problem!. Color may have shifted slightly, but probably not enough to notice!. I just got a roll of film processed that had been sitting in the camera for about 35 years, and it came out, amazingly, just fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The color may shift slightly, but they should still be ok for pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
