Question: Pottery Firing and Glazing!?
I throw on a wheel and I would like to know whether or not it is ok to glaze greenware (before putting it into the kiln for the first time)!. I have some interesting lead paints (I won't eat out of my pottery) and I would like to glaze as soon as possible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on the cone level of your glaze!. Most glazes over cone3 need the greenware to be fired first!. You would then apply the glaze and refire!.

There should be some directions (if not given with your glazes then online) about cone rating and firing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Please mark your pots
"LEAD GLAZE"
Put a hole in the bottom so it can't hold a liquid!.

I have made things and given them away,

I GOT SOME POTS FROM ANOTHER STUDENT THAT THE GLAZE CONTAINS CHROMIUM - NOT FOOD SAFE!. there is no marking

Is it worth using LEAD in your glaze!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
