Question: I own a watercolour on paper, The River Trent Near Nottingham, signed G!. Goodall!. Any info on this artist!?
I purchased this at auction!. It was catalogued as a late nineteenth-century watercolour on paper, signed G!. Goodall!. Is G (eorge!?) Goodall a member of the distinguished family of English artists headed up by Edward and Frederick!? This piece was formerly in the collection of Percival Leach, british-born American interior designer and founder of Colony House!. According to Davenport's Art Price Directory, two G!. Goodalls are listed - one is G W Goodall, 19th century American; the other is George Goodall, 20th Century British!. Any information you may have is greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi! I don't believe they're related!. The only
'George' I could find in the 'the clan,' was
Fredrick's son, Ted's second wife's brother
and a 'George' who produced atlases in the
1940's!.
And to make it more confusing for you!.!.!. :)
I found a few more! You could have it appraised to
truly find out!.!. or just enjoy it for its own sake as
it seems the name 'Goodall' equates with talent!.
regardless which group it's from!. It will be a
conversation piece no matter how it turns out!
