It depends on if you want it to stay intact for longer than a few years!. If it's just for a school project, then you can just use regular white glue!. If you plan on keeping it long enough to show your kids or grandkids, then you should use an archival glue, such as "Yes!" glue, methyl cellulose, or acrylic gel medium!. Wheat paste (wallpaper paste) will also work!.

Regular glue will turn yellow and crack over time, especially on a flexible surface like canvas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wallpaper glue!. Sounds so obvious when you read that doesn't it!? Use the EXTRA strong version though and use it on stretched canvas!.
On that you place the newspaper!.

If you want it to last, seal it with a layer of acrylic medium!. Not any type of spray!. That will damage the paper in the long run!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used newspaper on a canvas and i used regular school glue diluted with a LITTLE bit of water!. I just used a brush and kind of deco-pauged it on there!. haha!. it worked very well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
