Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: My parents don't like the fact that I love doing artistic things either!. This does -not- mean that they don't care about me!. If you want to improve, keep going at it, keep practicing!. If you don't have the funds to go to art school or take a short course, look up tips on the Internet or buy/borrow books about painting from the library!. Practice, however, is the key, and you won't improve if you don't really engage yourself in the activity, as simply reading may increase your understanding and knowledge, but it won't improve your real skills!. Asking others for critiques and tips on how to improve your work is also very helpful!. You'll have to learn to accept what they say and take it as useful advice, whether you agree with it or not!. You don't even need to ask artistic people -- ask anyone you can, as people who don't seem to have an artistic flair can also have very useful opinions and input!. If your parents think that painting subtracts from your study time/social life or anything else, you're going to have to learn to balance the two, but never give up!.
