There should be a job discription listed!.

Basically you help the film editor!. Keep logs of the film codes, help sync the sound with the film!. It really helps to have had some experience, if only in film school to know what is necessary to edit film !.!.!.

Film editing includes things like recording Foley, colour correcting the final prints!. preparing one light prints for viewing by the director and parts of the crew that need to be involved and much, much more!.
