Question: Cropping images or getting it right before taking pics!?
I have found myself getting lazy with composing photos!.!.!.!.!.

I shoot in RAW, and I tend to zoom out slightly for the photo, and then crop my images later in Adobe Bridge before any post-production in PS!.!.!.

Do you try to get it right before pressing the shutter!.!.!.!.!. or do you crop images later!?!?!? (or both!?)Www@QuestionHome@Com

When shooting weddings, you have to keep in mind the possible print sizes the client might order!. so I shoot a bit loosely!. Otherwise, I try to come pretty close to what I want in the end!. I don't mind doing a bit of cropping when necessary, though!. Better to crop a bit than wish you had more room!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I always try to compose my shot correctly before I shoot it!. I rarely crop!.

Might want to be careful with the getting lazy thing!. I let myself get lazy when I started shooting with a DSLR thinking "Oh I'll just fix whatever in photoshop!", but got cured when I did a shoot and couldn't do any justice to a few potentially awesome pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends on your approach to photography, or the style of work you are doing!.!. If you are usually taking shots where things are happening quickly, cropping becomes a good way of composing!. I usually plan my compositions and light them, so no croppping is needed!. I would say use what ever tools are necessary to get the image you want!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use in-camera cropping when I compose the picture!. However, cropping after the fact is less of an issue for me since I use film and have a 24mm X 36mm ISO 100 negative to play with!. With the smaller sensor of non full-frame DSLR cameras you'd be better off, IMO, to do your best to "get it right in the camera"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sensors are small enough without cropping part of the image later!. I use the camera compose the image !.!.!. any cropping later has to do with the image ratio of the final print !.!.!. since not all standard prints are in the same 3:2 image ratio as my cameras sensor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As an ex-professional photographer and now keen amateur, I always do my best to compose before taking the shot!.

I invariably I crop a little to get the best I can, just as I would have done when enlarging B/W negatives in the good old days!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm no pro at photography but as long as the resolution is good enough I like to crop at leisure!. The great thing with digital is being able to take as many attempts at a shot as you like without wasting costly film and processing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally, I try to get it right but I'm not a great photographer so I frequently end up cropping stuff!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is best to get in right before you press the shutter!. However I rend to crop too tight in camera and you just can't fix that!Www@QuestionHome@Com
