Unless you publish it,in some way, for money or not, then it is not infringement!.

Once you do publish it, for instance, even online, you may be subject to a lawsuit!. A lot depends on your intentions!. For example, if you "borrow" a line for line layout of a copyrighted image, and, the image can be clearly recognized a that of another artist, a judge, in a copyright infringement suit, may find that the infringement is clear!.

An example may be of an image of Mickey Mouse, or Donald Duck!. If you were to trace the image and post it, or print it on tee shirts, or publish it anywhere, even though none of the "original" pixels were there, you'd lose the case!.

The state of the "original pixels" have nothing to do with it!. It is the form of the image that counts!. You don't even have to trace it!. You buy a Disney poster, scan it, and then print out new posters, you'd certainly have none of the original pixels, (print dots, to digital scan, back to another printer's dots) but this would be another clear case of infringement!.

The other half of the equation is in what you intend to do with the image!. If you were making a single copy, just for yourself, this would be no problem, as it falls within the copyright law's "fair use" doctrine!.

Um!.!.!.I don't think so if you make sure to give credit to the original creator!. A lot of people make fanart from scenes from anime/movies/etc!. and always give the respectable credit to the maker!. And they never get in trouble!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
