Question: Which companies still turns photos into slides!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
You need to bring your slide film to a high end photo shop!.
Most towns have them!.
Look in your local phone book, yellow pagesWww@QuestionHome@Com

You need to find a 'photography processing' store !.!.!. they usually also sell cameras, but if they don't they will have a processing store they work with and can give you a reference to!. Yes, you CAN have your digital photos turned into slides, although most people use the 'old fashioned' analogue cameras and 'slide film' that is developed directly into slides!. Go to the BEST (not always the largest with the most ads) camera store you can find and ask if they can develop slides, or have an associate that can do that !.!.!.
Unfortunately, you may have to send your 'photos' to a different city for processing now!. There were two in Seattle up to a month ago, and now both are gone and the CLOSEST place is in San Francisco!. I take it you are an artist and want 'slides' for your portfolio, or you are a teacher who wants to do a 'slide show' for your class or something similar!. You can do the 'slide show' on the computer these days, but you still need 'hard slides' for the portfolio in many places!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think most film developers (I'm thinking of K-Mart and CVS, drugstores, etc) will develop pictures into slides--you check the box for slides when you fill out the info and drop off your film!. I think it is easier and you get a better slide if you use slide film, though I don't think it is necessary!. also, if you want photographs to be converted into slides it will be way more expensive because they will have to re-create the negative, then produce the slide from that!. But if you have negatives then it might not be that expensive!. Check around and I bet you'll find someplace!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You do it yourself!. Get a roll of slide film and photograph your photos with it!. It is preferable to use a macro lens on your camera to give better resolution if you have one!. Use natural light to photograph in preferably not too bright!. A flash will give you hot spots on the photo!. Use a camers stand to hold the camera very still as you are shooting at short focussing distances!. Once you have taken the photos you simply have the roll of slide film processed and you have slides from your photos!. It is a simple process I have been using for 20 yrs!. Any that do not turn out sharp you simply do again on another roll of slide film!. It is a very inexpensive way to go about the process!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The following company turns digital photos into slides:

http://www!.slideplus!.com/

If you do not have a digital copy of the image, you can take the photo itself to a FedEX Kinko's and have them scan the photo into a digital file!.

If you are shooting in film & want to turn the film itself into a slide, check out Dwayne's Photo in Parsons Kansas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm assuming that you have existing printed pictures that you want to project using a slide projector!.!.!.

If you have digital scans of the pictures, your best bet is to send it out to a film printing service -- do a web search for "film recorder" or "slide service bureau" and you'll find a handful of professional services that continue to offer this capability!.

(Here's one, for example: http://www!.ezslides!.com/35prices!.htm)

If you don't have digital scans of your pictures already, you can take the prints (or, for better quality, the original negatives) to a "Camera" store -- most of them have the ability to make color slides for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Okay, I'm assuming that you're actually using real FILM and you want it processed and mounted on a slide, right!? :)

I'll be honest, I've never used slide film!. I've always just used color print film!. I also use black and white film (35mm and 120 size)!. But I develop B&W film and pictures myself at home!.

Everyone seems to love Kodachrome!. Kodak is going to stop making it unfortunately, but there are a lot of other slide films available!. Anyway, one place I could recommend for processing and slide mounting is Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas!. For some reason, I can't post the link here, but just do a Google Search for "Dwayne's Photo!." They also sell a lot of different types of film, even 8mm and Super-8 movie film! I've had print and movie film developed by them before and I've always been happy!.

If you take slide film to Walmart or a place like that, they will just send it to Dwayne's anyway, because 1 hour photo labs can't process it!. So either try Dwayne's, or look for another professional photo lab that specifically says they can process slide film!.

The other thing to keep in mind is that regular color print film and slide films are different!. Color print film, like what you use just to get regular photos are acutally called "color negative films!." Same for black and white films too, actually!. They're called "black and white negative!." The reason is that when normal print films are exposed, the film records colors in reverse!. So you get a negative that you can use to make positive prints for normal pictures!. Slide films are called "positive" or "color reversal" because the film records the image in true colors!. The reason is because you need a true, positive image so you can project the slide on a projector!. (Actually, I think when the film is exposed it does record in negative colors, but then the colors reverse back to normal when it's developed!. That's why they're called "reversal" films!. But anyway, that's getting kind of technical!.)

So if you're using normal color print film and want slides from that, I'll be honest, I'm not sure how they would do that!. You can probably get transparencies and slides made that will let you project the image, but I'm not sure how they do that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow, this question has attracted a lot of responses!.

Your original question can be interpreted in several ways, so I'll try and answer it in a couple of different ways!.

The first option is that you're going on a trip, or something of that sort, and want to put together a slide show when you return!.

Fortunately, that's the easiest option!. To do this, you need to take the photographs on slide film, which is still made and is better than it ever was!. There are a number of different slide films available from Kodak and Fuji!. For a good, basic, general purpose film, I'd suggest Kodak Elite Chrome 100, or Fuji Sensia 100!. These are both "consumer" films, but are still quite good!. If you can't find either of these, I would suggest either Kodak E100GX or Fuji Astia 100F!. These should be available from any local camera store which caters to professionals!. Alternatively, you can order them online from B&H Photo!.

Once you've shot the film, processing is probably best done at a local pro lab(look in your yellow pages for "photo finishing-custom)!. These are few and far between these days, though!. If you don't have one, drop the film in the send-off box of any grocery store, drug store, etc!. The cheapest, and best(in my opinion) is Walmart!. Slide film goes to one of the top labs in the country, Dwayne's Photo, at a cost of $4!.88 a roll!.

The other option is that you have prints or negatives which you want to have transferred to slides!.

There are two ways of going about this!. The traditional way is using a 35mm camera to photograph the negative or print!. This is done by using a copy stand for prints, or using special holder, lens, and bellows for film!. There are labs which will do this for you!. Turning negatives into slides, however, requires a special type of film which Kodak has not made in a few years(I have a few rolls squirreled away, but I'm not parting with them any time soon)!.

The better option is using a something called a film recorder, which uses LASERs to expose film from a digital file!. Using a film recorder, the negative or print is first scanned, then, optionally, edited, and finally put back on slide film!. This same thing can also be done using an original digital file!.

In any case, Dwayne's Photo, sourced via Walmart, can handle all of these!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Local camera stores!. If you want to do them yourself (which is probably the cheaper solution if you already have a camera) get some good lighting (preferably two bright floodlights on each side of the photos) and shoot the pictures with Slide Film with the photos on black background!.
Shoot at a low ISO and use a good fstop, preferably f11 or f8!.
develop the slide film normally, and they will give you slides back!.

If you're talking digital, then take them into a photo store, like Ritz or whatever your local photo store is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Any reputable photo lab can do this!.

In San Diego, for instance, there is a company named Chrome, which converts prints (negatives) into slides (positives, or transparencies)!.

I use slide film (Sensia, Velvia, Provia, Etkachrome) but once I messed up and used print film!. Chrome was able to convert my prints into slides!. It was expensive, of course, but worth it!.

I'm not advertising that company, but I'll include a link to their homepage!. Perhaps they'll even accept your photos via mail!.

If you live in a large city, I would imagine you can find (such) a company in the Yellow Pages, under "Photo Finishing - Retail"!.

P!.S!.

I would not go to a large outlet (i!.e!. Walmart, CostCo, et al!.) They send their special work (like what you want) out, and most photo labs that take huge bulk assignments do not change their developing solution more than twice a day!.

If you have archival photos that you want to develop into a slide show, it's worth it to pay a bit more via a reputable Photo Lab that changes their chemicals every 4 hours or so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know for a fact that CVS/pharmacy will do it via their send out service!. If you just take what you want put onto the slides into the store, a technician can explain the entire process to you!. It pretty much just involves putting your name and desired services on a bag containing the photos, and then you get them back a certain amount of days later!.
On the off chance that you don't have a CVS near you, Walgreens may do it, though I'm not 100% sure of that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most specialty camera stores will do it!.But,because it is rarely requested, there is a processing time of at least three weeks or more!.And they have to send it off site!.I keep looking for kodachrome 64 for Railroad photography, and finally went digital!.Kodak will do it,But it would be best to convert before the production stops!.Otherwise, you might have no projector to play them on!.That's how my record collection is!.Kodack stopped making projectors in 2004!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't be too hard on them!.!.!.slide projectors are harder to find than digital projectors these days!. It can be done, but it seems pretty expensive to get your photos converted to slides!. Is there a reason that you have to have slides!? It might be a better long term investment to purchase a digital projector instead, and then scan your photos, if they're not already digital images!.

I put a link to a discussion on the topic in the sources!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

not many places still do this!. I know that you can easily make photo prints from slides- but to get slides from photos!? As I recall, they have to essentially take a photo of your provided photo and make a slide from it!. There will be some quality loss- but if you really need a slide of a photo badly!.

Perhaps you can purchase some slide film and take a photo of your photograph!. I'd do it outdoors in natural sunlight, and use a tripod!. Be sure to do a self-timer shutter release to avoid any unneccesary shaking of your camera!.

Simply develop your slide film at any photography place!. I'm sure that if you do it this way, it'd cost much less than a lab would charge!.!.!. that is if you can find a place that still does this service!.

The answerer, "Gatewayc!.!." gave you the best answer doing a very good job of explaining the difference between negative & color reversal film & why slide film is different than 35mm or other film!.

Kodak was still making slides about 5 years ago, but I'm not sure if they still do!. You should go to their website, which several people have already supplied in their answers to you to see if its listed, or to get contact info to ask Kodak yourself!. If they don't, their closest competitor was Fuji, so I'd check with them, next!.

As for all the answers referring to digital techniques & other forms of processing films - forgive them, they're young & haven't been exposed to such archaic things as super 8 or slides being projected on screens via a carousel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi,

You don't mention if you have digital photos in a memory card, or already printed photos!.
Now, if you have a regular camera that uses film, you'll have to buy film for slides !. Fuji has two kinds, one to the main consumer and one more devoted for the professional!.
I bought it once when I entered a painting contest and they wanted the images sent as slides!.
After the photos are taken, you take the film to the store and they'll "reveal" it to slide!.
If you are going to take photos of paintings, try taking them outside at around noon and cast day (not under sunlight)!.
Without flash and use a black cartoline behind the subject!.
Do not forget to turn the date off!.

Kind regards,

I may not be as bright as you are!.!. but I am bright enough to know that all I would have to do to find a company to turn photos into slides is GO TO ANY MAGAZINE STAND A BUY A COPY OF A PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE!.!.!. because I am bright enough to know THEY HAVE ADVERTS from companies who DO THAT!.

So!.!. I am bright enough to know that NOT EVERYTHING IS ON THE INTERNETWww@QuestionHome@Com

Im going to start my answer off with a questions!. Why is this still unanswered!? I don't think that the people answering your question are as unintelligent as the person asking it, this has been answered and more than enough additional information has been given!. The simple answer would be that there never was, and never will be a company that will turn a "photo" into a slide!. If your looking to have slides of something than what you must first do is buy slide film also known as transparency film, Fuji and Kodak both manufacture it!. Then get it developed it is an different process for developing than print or negative film!. (but if you get it cross pro!.!.!.!.!.never mind) That is how you achieve a slide, which im assuming was the intentional question!.

Question officially answered!.!.!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have a regular camera that you need to take the film to some certain places to be developed !!?! You can ask a worker that might be able to tell you the company or nearest store to your particular location!!?! You just might be given things that might have a location & maybe even a simple map starting from that store you went to !!?! Or maybe a main Ave!. in your city or town to be able to find it !!?!!. G/L~!!! rRrWww@QuestionHome@Com

There are still several professional shops around that do this but certainly there are no consumer shops!. Unfortunately not knowing your area, you will need to search them out yourself in the yellow-pages under photography, photo lab, something like that!. Many commercial photographers and advertising agencies still use slides!. Professional Labs, in any major city!.

Your question is a bit confusing as you can simply shoot transparency or slide film and then get it processed through a lab!.

To get negatives scanned and output as slides or to output digital files you are probably looking for a professional photo lab - which should be searchable online or via a photographic directory!.!.!. hope that helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Any place that processes film should be able to make you slides!.Kmart,Walgreen's,Ritz Camera, etc!. Many of these companies contract with photo processing places like Kodak so you have alot of options out there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Weird Question!? Normally if you are using slides you use slide film because then you get better image quality because slides are first generation whereas photos are second generation, and slides from negatives are second, etc!.

You could also just get a digital "slide" projector!. These are very common now and sometimes not to expensive!. Or you can just buy a DVD player that plays photodisks and use your TV!.

Now I suppose you are starting with normal film or even digital images!? You are probably looking for a small store not a chain, so what I have here won't help you there!. I had a heck of a time when I forced (shot film at the wrong speed on purpose because I couldn't get the right film -stupid world) some film to find someone with the equipment to know how to develop it!. I just let my fingers do the walking!.
