Let me say, that by posting your picture here, you have opened yourself up to many NASTY people who have nothing better to do than to say horrible things to faceless strangers!. Don't take those to heart!.
That said, there is some useful criticism here!. It is a nice painting, for an amateur!. We ALL have to start somewhere!. The couple of posters who suggested classes were spot on!. You have some talent, but WOULD benefit from instruction!.
Don't ever let someone else's opinion stop you from painting!. I have a quote posted above my art table by Vincent Van Gough, and I take that to heart:

"If a voice inside you says 'you cannot paint', then by all means, paint - and that voice will be silenced"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thank you for being brave enough to share your work and ask for our responses!. I think it is possible that you have talent!. I noticed that you included a foreground, middle ground and background!. I also see that you modulated the color of the water rather than just keeping it flat!. What you probably need is some training in drawing and painting!. For example: by dulling and lightening the red of the building and green foliage behind it you would make these appear more distant rather than competing with the rest of the painting!. also, the water could use different colors to show reflections and the recession of space!. With training you could learn about atmospheric perspective 'tricks' as well as other basic lessons that could really bring out your talent!. I am always amazed at the difference in students' art work at the beginning of a drawing or painting course compared with when they have had a little training!. I hope you will consider taking a drawing and/or painting class!. I think you would thrive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I see a naive painter who, if really interested in becoming an artist, would benefit from some drawing instruction and practice!. The perspective in your painting is way off!. While the colors are lovely, they lack depth and atmosphere!. Keep practicing, but when you do, try to create original images, as these are the best way to learn!. They may not be as "good" as you wish at first, but believe me, you will not develop your own style or grow as an artist copying from books!.

Now, if this painting was done from a tutorial painting book, it would be best for you to present it as a painting lesson, than as your first painting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

its a good painting, i like it, however, if you would like to develop it further you should because it would look amazing then!. I would sugest you go inot pop art!. type it in google or yahoo and you'll get **** loads of pictures to copy and they are really simple to paint but look brilliant when finishedWww@QuestionHome@Com

Not really it looks like you just coloured it in by copying the drawing on the opposite page of the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
