Question: Tips on good picture taking of yourself!?
I'm the worst at taking pictures!. I want to take some new pictures of myself, but I really am bad at the angles, creativity of the photo, etc!. Every picture I take sucks and I can rarely find any pictures I want to send to my friends!. Going to a photographer is out of the question, so please don't suggest that!. I just need some good, working tips about taking pictures of yourself!. Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most importantly, don't take a photo with flash into the mirror!. Those are ugly and unflattering!. Use the timer setting and a tripod or a stack of books!. Grab something that can fill in for you (like a bowling ball or something like that) so you can set up your shots!. Put it where you plan on standing, sitting, etc!., so that you're not taking blind photos that end up with you half out of the frame (though those can be cool if you do them right)!. Then snap away!. Take a bunch!. Don't worry if they're perfect, but it's so much fun playing with them on Photoshop or whatever editing software you have! Be creative!

Photobooth on Macintosh computers is awesome too!. You can get fun creative photos with all kinds of special effects!. My Facebook and Myspace photos are ones I took while subbing at school, goofing off with some of the girls in the class!. They look like comic book pictures!.

In a similar line, try a real photo booth in a mall!. Grab funky sunglasses and hats or costumes and just be crazy!. See the movie Amelie for some really good ideas!.

If all else fails, find a friend who is a budding photographer and just let them practice on you!. Chances are you'll end up with something pretty awesome!.

Hope that helped!.

PS There was a girl who posted a photo on here last night that she did!. It was a collage of 4 photos and it was really cool!. She'd grabbed this rectangle-shaped magnifying glass and taken photos of herself!. Each photo had a different part of her face magnified!. It was fun and pretty cool!. She put them all together for a cool collage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Okay, first don't just hold the camera in front of you, aimed at yourself!. That will give you a bad self-portrait!. Instead, put it on a tripod, prop it up somewhere, set it on self-timer, and use the telephoto lens from further away!.

Or you can have a friend take the picture for you, again from farther away with a telephoto lens!. Step away from any background (like a wall)!. You don't want your background in focus!. Use a wide aperture, or portrait mode on a pocket camera!. That will help put your background out of focus!. Watch for trees behind you, so it doesn't look like you have one growing out of your head!.

For a pose, don't just stand there square to the camera!. Stand with your body facing a little off to one side!. Lean your body weight on one leg, bending the other a little!. Put a hand on your hip!. Try out different poses!. Just don't look stiff for the camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
