Question: On DeviantArt, what is the difference between storybook, technical, and conceptual illustrations!?

Well, I can't tell you what they (DeviantArt) are exactly looking for in those three fields, but I can categorize them as they are seen by definition in the field!.

Most storybook illustrations seem to be tied to children's books, but they don't have to be!. They just tend to be tied to a written story of some kind (even as far back as illuminated manuscripts)!.

A technical illustration is generally related to mechanical or scientific field, like an isometric mechanical drawing!. I had a friend who also studied technical illustration with a specialization of the human anatomy for medical media!.

Concept art is a form of illustration where the main goal is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in movies, video games, or comic books before it is put into the final product!.
