Question: What camera lenses/flashes/filters are used in these photos!?
What specific lenses and flashes could i purchase for a nikon d70 for close ups and group photos like these:

I think the person uses short fixed lenses, but im not certain, and i'd like to know specifics that would work with a d70 or d70s!. he's using a d100!.

also what sort of filters would be good to achieve the look/style of these photos
Or do you think he just played with color/contrast in photoshop!?
Im a noob!

thanks!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lot 'could' be played with in photo shop, especially the coloring, however the 1st image looks like a somewhat wide angle lens was used to get the coverage of the guys and the distance trees and sunset are still in focus!. For lighting I feel it was 1 light str8 on and one over head!. These may have been electronic flashes or regular studio lights!. They "could" have been under a street light and the str8 on light also natural or normal for that area!.!. Exposure was adjusted to allow exposure of the boys AND the sunset!.!.!.

The 2nd shot, at the wall was at least 2 lights too (see the shadows here!.!.!?) most likely flash units!. Again I feel a slight wide angle lens was used because the background is in too good of focus!.!.

It would be imposable to say with exact fairness just what lens and just what lighting was used!. One can only surmise by the evidence shown!.!.

If either shot had used a small telephoto, the DOF (depth of field) would have been much shallower and the background no where near as sharp or in focus!. Wide angle lenses can have incredible DOF if used correctly!.!.

The camera body is not an issue here!. Sure, the D-100 has a few features over a D-70 or D-80 but it is the fact both will take the same lenses so images like this could be duplicated with yours!.!.!. and I think they played with the tone and contrast in a image editing program to achieve the color here!.

You would have to have some knowledge is studio lighting to get these effects!. The first image looks like there is a studio light above them, probably in a soft box or bouncing off an umbrella!. I would also say that some work was done in Photoshop!. The second image looks like there was either two studio lights, one on each side of the photographer, or a hotshoe flash such as a Nikon SB-800 speedlite!. also, the second image looks like it has some kind of Lucis Art filter applied in photoshop or is a badly done HDR!.

For the most part, both of these images were created by using good lighting techniques!. I would say the first one has the best lighting and the second one looks overexposed with too little contrast and just plain bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think most of this is played with in photoshop!.
All nikon lenses will work with all nikon cameras!.!.!. it looks like this person is just using a 50-70mm or something close to it!. The second picture is definitly not because of a filter, it is an effect that was created after it was taken (Refered to as HDR)Www@QuestionHome@Com
