First make sure you are using a sturdy paper with good tooth!.

Colored pencils are best used with a light touch and the smooth, even colors you want come from many lightly applied layers!. It is not a fast medium by any stretch of the imagination!.

The other trick is to keep the point sharp at all times!. Some artists sharpen theirs once every 5 minute or more! A dull pencil makes a broad stroke and is won't fill in the "white" of the paper as easily!.

If you are pushing too hard, hurrying, or using dull pencils you are most likely to get blotchy, uneven and rough colors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

prismacolors blend!. Take a q tip and rub the area to blend it together!. There is also a pencil called a prismacolor blender that you can use to help blend the colors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
