6 MP is fine!. It was all the pro world even used until just a few years ago!.

With a digital SLR, the image quality is so much better than a point and shoot camera and you can print much larger sizes without any problem!.

The image is about 3,000 pixels by 2,000 pixels!.

The "gold standard" is 300 ppi/dpi!. Down to 200 ppi/dpi is still considered to be very good quality!.

Posters that will be viewed from at least 3-4 feet away can get away with 100 ppi/dpi if it's from a DSLR!.

Now we do the math!.!.!.

3000x2000 at 300 ppi = 10x6!.67"!. 8x10's will be simply stunning if you use most of the frame!.

3000x2000 at 200 ppi = 15x10"!. This size is available from pro print shops if you want the full frame!. I've done many of them!. 11x14's are very nice from a 6 MP camera!.

3000x2000 at 100 ppi = 30x20" or poster size!. No problem if you are printing the whole image and having it done by a decent photofinisher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just want to agree totally with Dr!. Sam!. I use an "old" Canon D60 (6mp) on a regular basis!.
