Islamic art is art that is made by people of the Muslim faith or living in Muslim areas!. It can include calligraphy (think of how beautiful Arabic is), architecture, pottery, painting, etc!.
Islamic art rarely includes anything living!. It is against their beliefs in particular to depict the prophet Mohammad in any way!. Most of Islamic art is made up of geometric shapes and intricate designs!.

Islamic art is a broad subject!. It covers architecture, which is specific to Islamic peoples, the art of calligraphy, which the Islamic people use for decoration, and yes, even paintings, etc!. Some of the finest examples of Islamic art is in the geometric figures they produce!. Most people will tell you that in Islam they do not paint pictures!. That is not entirely correct!. they do paint, they just paint within the confines of their religious beliefs!.
